NSS, is an association of young students in colleges, Universities and people who are enthusiastic to do the social activities
National service scheme has been started in the year 1998 in SSMCE with two units including 200 volunteers.

AIM  
  • To develop the personality of SSMCE students through social service,
  • To Identify the needs and problems in the society in which they can be involved to find out the right solution,
  • To develop among themselves a sense of social and civic responsibility,
  • To apply their education for finding practical solution for individual and community problems
  • To practice national integrity.
Activities  
  • Blood donation
  • Plantation
  • Vocational Training for the village people such as Soap making, Garment designing, screen printing etc.,
  • Medical camps  such as eye checkup camp, dental camp, general health  camp etc.,
  • Yoga  & meditation
  • Computer Training for rural students and villagers.
  • Karate coaching for school children.
  • Adventure programs.
  • Disaster management
Special activities:  
  • The village people who have got vocational training during NSS special camps, have been given job opportunities at SSM College of Engineering.
  • Organised a National Integration Camp at SSM College of Engineering in the year 2003. About hundred students from various states participated.
  • Organised two days training programme for  the students from various colleges of Anna university Coimbatore  at  SSMCE on 3rd and 4th April 2009.
Future mission:  
Implementing “SSM PURA” through the young and dynamic students of SSMCE.
